During their mission to assassinate Pierce, the crew of the Dawn Voyager destroyed the Altaic station of Ansra, renamed Big Mama's Tit, by rigging the station's reactors into an improvised fusion bomb. Such a powerful detonation within the atmosphere of the planet had devastating effects, raining debris and radiation down on the planet.

The chunks of debris were the size of a small asteroid, and each was moving fast enough to impart as much energy as the Chicxulub impact. Massive tidal waves swept the planet where the debris impacted oceans, killing all life several hundred kilometers inland. Others impacted on land, killing everything within a few kilometers of each impact instantly and carving massive basins that only worsened the flooding.

The land impacts threw up massive clouds of dust, which blocked out the sun and dispersed globally through atmospheric currents. The immense heat released also set fire to the atmosphere of the planet, which scoured large areas to charred husks before being dissipated into the global dust storm, flash heating and in many cases melting the airborne particles.

As further debris impacted the oceanic basins, cracks opened in the mantle, sending plumes of lava into the air. The fusion reaction also triggered an EMP, which was magnified by the planet's ionoshphere to cover an area as large as the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans combined. With large swathes of the planet without any for of power, the main heads of the Skeaver Pirates airlifted some civillians out on their ships and fled.

More specific data is difficult to collect at this time, due to the dust cloud, but all theoretical modelings of the disaster conclude that the only possible surviving life would be simple, single-celled organisms, though even that is unlikely. Many models also present significant damage to the planet's core, which would leave it defenseless against Lamia's solar wind as well as pose other significant problems for the long-term physical stability of the planet.

Current attempts at a census puts the surviving Skeaver population at approximately 1.5 million, which translates to a 0.00001% survival rate. Scholars also predict that the Skeaver might go extinct after this event if they don't drastically scale back their piracy operations to cut down on those killed in action. Other scholars point out that they are more likely to go extinct in that case, because piracy is their main source of food and water now that their lush habitat is destroyed. Current informal Skeaver census implies that any such efforts are doomed, as there are less than one thousand individuals capable of breeding, which is less than the minimum value needed to sustain a population.
